What is bentonite?
Bentonite is a product composed of volcanic ash. Clay is dried in the sun, filtered, and sold commercially in many forms, including as a facial mask, ointment/paste, and hair care agent.
When mixed with water, it forms a thick paste.
Technically, BC is an absorbent aluminum silicate clay. The largest known source of BC is Fort Benton, Montana, where there are many volcanoes.
What are the benefits of bentonite? These include:
Healing skin conditions
Assist in the detoxification process
Prevent bacterial infections
Supports digestive and respiratory processes
Helping Teeth Health
Provide nutrition
May help lose weight
Risks and side effects
What hazards of bentonite should you be aware of? Although it is usually safe to use BC correctly, caution is required in terms of both the quantity and the type selected if using BC.
BC is ideal for oily skin tones, but if your skin is very dry, sensitive, or aging, you may need to use a gentler clay.
Some bentonite products contain trace amounts of lead and other heavy metals and may not be suitable for consumption, especially among children and pregnant women. At least one report indicates that a pediatric patient developed severe hypokalemia (hypokalemia) after oral and rectal administration of large amounts of bentonite.
The FDA has warned consumers not to purchase Alikay Naturals’ “Bentonite Me Baby” or Best Bentonite Clay because of the potential risk of lead poisoning in these products, as the lead content of these products is clearly unsafe.
Be careful when trying any “bentonite detoxification” or weight loss products, as BC should not be consumed in large amounts because it can swell in the body. Excessive amounts can lead to side effects of bentonite, including problems that disrupt normal digestion and absorption of important nutrients.
